Movie: Hester Street (1975)

Lower East Side in 1896, ambitious Yankel (Steven Keats) is enjoying his experience as a recent emigre from Russia, with a social circle of peers, and a lover. All of whom are eager to assimilate and partake in the modern prosperity and freedom to be found in this growing America.
