||How to quickly and easily clean scuff lines on wood floor?

The movers I hired to clean out my dad's house were careless and left a 8ft long streak across his wood dining room floor. They were apparently dragging a black vinyl chair because the streaks are not easy to remove. I've tried scrubbing with a sponge and bog standard wood cleaner but it barely made a dent. Can anyone suggest a simple solution?
